Dear Google: We've noted recent statements by CEO Dr. Eric Schmidt about Google's "moral imperative" to help the newspaper industry, and his concern about the loss of investigative journalism being the result of newspapers' decline. We share his concerns. A major part of the newspaper industry's decline is the loss of once-lucrative classified advertising revenues. As experts in the classifieds business, we've been pondering how to recover some of that money, and thus address Dr. Schmidt's concerns about the future of journalism. We believe that Google can play a positive role here.
